Our vision reflects growing worldwide momentum towards a new consensus that emphasizes a balanced, peaceful co-existence with the planetary systems that sustain us, based on small-scale, cooperatively organized and relatively self-sufficient human settlements.
We believe that the planet is on the verge of a great shift. As global resources decline, planetary ecosystems are strained to the point of collapse, and the wealth gap between the world´s rich and poor reaches untenable proportions, it becomes clear that an economic system that relies on consumption at ever-more-rapid rates of the planet´s finite resources is not sustainable. Change starts from within each individual mind and radiates outward. The human mind is a microcosm of the universe, and what the mind projects outward becomes reality. The society we live in is one we have created, consciously or unconsciously, and there is nothing preventing us from creating a new society except our own minds. Yet without a shift in consciousness, there cannot be fundamental changes in the political, economic, environmental, and cultural structures that imprison us. We live in the illusion that the superficial material reality we behold is all that there is, and we have forgotten from whence we came. We live in a culture that praises and glorifies material wealth for its own sake and not for any higher purpose. Our political-economic system is based on organized lovelessness. The ¨highly advanced¨ industrial societies are plagued by the ubiquitous presence of depression, drug abuse, and suicide, signs of spiritual desparation. The populace is no longer controlled by military power but by a more subtle and yet more direct form of control that penetrates deep into the human mind. Our reality is defined by what we see and experience, and the channels of perception and information access are controlled and manipulated through television, radio, public education. We are relentlessly bombarded with advertising messages that work on a subliminal level to program behavior patterns based on fear and desire. Debt is used as an economic and psychological tool to keep our minds preoccupied about tomorrow. Urban life in a techno-industrial society has disconnected us from the rhythms and cycles of nature, and many are only now awakening to the tortured screams that emanate daily from Gaia, Mother Earth.
Therefore, our projects focus on creating the necessary conditions to elevate our awareness and realize our divine purpose here. Each human being is a channel for the divine energy of universal love to flow through and manifest, but these energetic channels have been polluted and blocked. Cleansing the mind-body is a life-long process and many techniques have been developed among our diverse cultural and spiritual heritage, including meditation, yoga, sacred dance, shamanism, and dietary practices. Connecting to nature is a planetary spiritual exercise practiced since time immemorial, and one that has been and still is necessary for survival. Project Nuevo Mundo begins when a new world is created within each of us.
