Our Center
Accomodations
This year we aim to finish our first three prototype eco-living houses.
Given our twin considerations of ecological and financial sustainability, we use green design and some criteria of our own:
- Owner built
- Use of locally occurring materials
- Fire and theft proof
- Lasts a lifetime (or two)
- Low maintenance and upkeep costs
We were able to incorporate rainwater collection systems with solar water heaters and greywater algae ponds, in order to make self-contained closed-loop living units with all the modern conveniences, and the proper amount of thermal mass in the floors, walls, and roofs to create cool, airy spaces when it's hot outside. Every house has a solar-heated hot tub and an organic vegetable garden. Rentals start at 20 dollars per person, per day. On the grounds you can use hot pools, cold pools, steam- and dry-heat saunas, and soon a meditation center offering yoga and massage.
Future plans include a volunteer center and low-cost housing for budget travelers.
